Colorado Durango/Silverton Train
If you ever find yourself traveling to Colorado, I highly recommend visiting the Durango/Silverton train. When you first arrive, you board the train with a conductor and wait for a few minutes before departure. As you’re boarding, you’ll see other people doing the same, and the vibe feels very much like The Polar Express.
Once on board, the train takes you through one of the most scenic routes, offering breathtaking views of nature—perfect for capturing postcard-worthy pictures. After a while, the train stops at a place with local eateries, gift shops, and pastry shops. You’ll have about an hour there (I think) to eat, shop, and explore. My friends and I were able to grab some food and pick up souvenirs during that time.
Afterward, you board the train again to head back to your car, and on the way back, you get to experience the same stunning scenery from the opposite side. They also provide free bathrooms and offer concessions for purchase on the train.
