Already a couple months into my tattoo apprenticeship, and I have to say it’s been so much fun.
I never thought that I would be a tattoo artist during my creative journey, but when I was given the chance I took it wholeheartedly. The opportunity came at the perfect time, when I was questioning my happiness in a design job with little wiggle room for creativity, which left me wishing for a more challenging position that would actually allow me to make art.
People have always told me that my work would lend itself well to tattoos, which I kind of understand because I’ve always loved working on pen and ink. But for many years I was more focused on animation and illustration, and having a blast designing characters. When I was going through art school, my only goal was to break into the animation industry. That said, when I look back on my artistic journey professionally, I realize that I’m really the type of artist that takes opportunity as it comes!
So when this new opportunity was presented to me, I took it and I was excited to say yes! I am so excited to learn this new skill. Not only that but I’ve been meeting so many people, and I’m so lucky to have such fantastic mentors and coworkers to teach and encourage me.
Attached to this post are some designs that I feel like I would love to tattoo on people. While I see the importance in having a variety in my portfolio, I hope that one day I can be the kind of tattoo artist that puts original artwork on people as well!
I hope people continue to resonate with the things that I draw and I think it’s amazing that anyone would like my art enough to put it permanently on their skin. I’m excited to share this new apprenticeship journey with you all. I hope it’s exciting for you as it is for me. I can’t wait to share all the artwork that I’ve been compiling these last few months.
