It used to really bother me when I was younger because it was just so noticeable to me (even on other women's bodies), but then I decided it was just ok to have, that people aren't going to be repulsed or think differently about me based that. It's weird because you never see them in the magazines, so I thought there was something wrong with having that.
For me, I "swoop and scoop" into my bra, which greatly reduces underarm bulging. I also prefer bras with wide side bands and light boning on the sides.
Do any of you get that awkward armpit fat when wearing tanktops? How do you hide it? Does it make you feel self conscious?
... Read moreIt's totally normal to feel self-conscious about armpit fat, and trust me, I've been there! Beyond finding the right bra, which truly works wonders for that immediate visual difference we all crave (just like seeing those before-and-after comparisons!), I've also explored other ways to feel more confident.
First, let's talk a bit more about bras. While the 'scoop and swoop' method and wide side bands are fantastic, sometimes the fabric and cut of a bra make a huge impact. I've found that seamless t-shirt bras or even some well-fitting sports bras can really smooth things out, preventing that extra skin or tissue from bulging. It’s all about finding something that encapsulates everything comfortably without digging in. Sometimes, even just going up a band size can make a surprising difference in how everything lays.
Then, there's the fitness aspect. A lot of us wonder, 'how to lose armpit fat' or 'what armpit exercises actually work?' While you can't spot-reduce fat, focusing on strengthening the chest, back, and shoulder muscles can definitely help create a more toned appearance. I've personally incorporated simple upper body exercises into my routine. Things like wall push-ups (if regular push-ups are too much), arm circles, and light dumbbell presses or rows can make a difference over time. It's not about drastic changes, but building strength and improving posture can naturally lead to a smoother, more defined look. I've noticed when my posture is better, that underarm area seems to sit a bit flatter.
Another thing I've learned is that hydration and overall well-being play a role. Being well-hydrated and maintaining a balanced lifestyle can contribute to your skin's elasticity and overall body composition. It's not a quick fix, but it's part of feeling good in your skin.
Lastly, and this is super important, sometimes what we perceive as 'armpit fat' could be something else, like an axillary puff or even swollen lymph nodes. If you ever notice a new lump, or if one side feels significantly different or is causing discomfort, it's always best to get it checked out by a doctor. It's usually nothing serious, but peace of mind is priceless. For me, knowing the difference between normal body variations and something that needs attention has been really empowering.
Ultimately, it’s about finding what makes you feel comfortable and confident. Whether it’s the right bra, a little toning, or simply accepting your beautiful body as it is, remember you're not alone in these feelings. We all have those areas we're self-conscious about, and finding practical ways to address them, or simply accepting them, is a journey.
If u guys have this dw, it’s totally normal! The only reason u don’t see it on models is bc the way they are standing/ posing- on runways and photos models position their shoulder back and it hides it
Definitely normal but I get what you’re saying! It bothers me too, I’ve been doing a lot of chest workouts and that seems to help!
