I just had to share my super simple method for turning this frozen favorite into a restaurant-quality meal right in your own kitchen. First, let's talk about the star of the show: Trader Joe's Beef Birria. This isn't just any frozen meal; it's slow-cooked beef in a savory tomato & chile sauce, packed with incredible flavor. It comes frozen, ready to heat up, and best of all, I found it for under $20, making it a fantastic and budget-friendly option. The beef is incredibly tender, and the sauce is perfectly spiced, creating that deep, complex taste you expect from traditional birria. Now, for my absolute favorite way to prepare it: Birria Tacos! Here’s how I do it: Step 1: Heat the Birria. I start by heating the Trader Joe's Beef Birria according to the package instructions. I usually prefer to do it on the stovetop over low heat until it's completely defrosted and simmering. Once it's warm, I use two forks to shred the beef right in the pot. The key is to separate the rich, flavorful consommé (the sauce) from the shredded beef. You'll need both! Step 2: Prepare Your Tortillas. Grab some good quality flour tortillas. I personally love the Puebleo brand, but any soft flour tortilla will do. This next step is crucial for authentic birria tacos: Dip tortilla in birria consommé! Make sure both sides are coated in that gorgeous red sauce. This not only gives the tortillas flavor but also helps them crisp up beautifully. Step 3: Assemble & Grill. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or a non-stick pan over medium heat. Place a dipped tortilla on the hot surface. Quickly add a generous spoonful of the shredded birria beef to one half of the tortilla.
