Physical or ebook?

I totally get the eternal question: physical books or ebooks? Like many of you, I'm often caught between the convenience of my Kindle, packed with what feels like a thousand ebooks, and the undeniable magic of holding a brand-new physical copy. It's a debate that every book lover faces, especially with so many amazing digital books available now! So, what exactly is an ebook, or a digital book? Simply put, it's a book in electronic format that you can read on a digital device like an e-reader (like a Kindle), a tablet, or even your phone. They're incredibly convenient because you can store hundreds, if not thousands, of titles on one device. This instant access and portability are huge advantages for me, especially when I'm on the go. Heading on a trip? No need to pick just one or two physical books; I can bring dozens of digital books with me without adding any weight to my bag. Plus, ebooks can often be more affordable, and you can start reading instantly. If I hear about a must-read, I can download it in seconds. This flexibility is what makes digital reading so appealing, and it definitely plays a role in why I have so many ebooks! On the other hand, a physical book is what we traditionally think of – a printed copy with paper pages, a cover, and a spine. There's just something indescribable about a physical book. The smell of the paper, the feel of the pages turning, and the satisfaction of seeing a beautiful cover on your bookshelf – it's an experience that a digital screen just can't replicate. When I picked up my five new physical books this week – 'Ready Player One,' 'The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo,' 'Powerful,' 'Court Of The Vampire Queen,' and 'The Phoenix King' – I felt that familiar thrill. There's a tangible connection to the story when you're physically holding it. For some series, like the epic fantasies from J. Maas – think 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' or 'Throne of Glass' – I know so many readers, myself included, love collecting the gorgeous physical editions, even if they've read them digitally first. Having 'A Court of Mist and Fury' or 'Crown of Midnight' proudly displayed is part of the joy! The 'books vs. ebooks' or 'technology vs. books' debate isn't about one being inherently better than the other; it's about what suits your reading style and mood. Ebooks are fantastic for quick reads, travel, or when you need to adjust font sizes for comfort, making them accessible. Physical books are perfect for savoring, for displaying, and for that classic, immersive reading experience. Both digital books and physical copies offer unique advantages, and many of us enjoy both for different reasons. The difference between an ebook and a Kindle, for example, is that a Kindle is just one type of device you can use to read an ebook, which is the file itself! Ultimately, whether you're diving into a digital book on your e-reader or flipping through the pages of a beloved physical book, the goal is the same: to get lost in a good story.
