Things to do in Portland in November

2025/10/30 Edited to

... Read morePortland in November is truly magical! The crisp air and changing leaves create such a unique atmosphere, and there’s always something happening to keep you entertained, even as we ease into the holiday season. If you're wondering what to do, I've got some personal tips and highlights for making the most of your visit. First off, let’s talk about some incredible events. If you're a fan of art and a good time, you absolutely can't miss THE PANCAKES & BOOZE ART SHOW! It’s such a cool experience where you can check out over 75 local artists' work, all while enjoying free pancakes from 8 PM to midnight. It's usually a 21+ event hosted at a venue like the Hawthorne Theatre, so it’s perfect for a unique night out. For the literary buffs, the PORTLAND BOOK FESTIVAL is a must-attend. It's a fantastic opportunity to hear from authors, discover new stories, and engage with the local literary arts scene. And for something truly beautiful and serene, the Lan Su CHRYSANTHEMUM FESTIVAL at the Chinese Garden is breathtaking. The vibrant displays of chrysanthemums against the traditional garden setting are just stunning. Now, if you're looking for something more active or festive, November has that too! The LES SCHWAB TURKEY TROT is a fun pre-Thanksgiving run that gets you moving and offers a unique way to see parts of the city, like the Portland International Raceway. It's a great way to earn those Thanksgiving calories! For those who appreciate craft beverages, mark your calendar for BREWLIGHTS. Imagine dozens of local breweries, live music, and food carts all coming together – it’s a 21+ event that’s super popular and a fantastic way to experience Portland's renowned craft beer scene. And speaking of holiday spirit, even if the original post mentioned non-holiday events, you'll definitely feel the festive cheer starting to bubble up. The PITTOCK MANSION Home for the Holidays is an absolute dream, with the historic mansion decked out in gorgeous decorations and offering stunning views of the city. And for that iconic holiday kick-off, the Christmas Tree Lighting at Pioneer Courthouse Square is an event that truly brings the community together. Beyond these specific events, Portland in November is also perfect for exploring other attractions. Head indoors to cozy up at one of our many independent coffee shops or explore the legendary Powell's City of Books – it’s an experience in itself! The Portland Art Museum and OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) are always great options for staying dry and engaged. For dining, November is a fantastic time to dive into Portland's food scene, from fine dining to incredible food carts, there's something for every palate. Just be sure to dress in layers and bring a good raincoat; November can be a bit wet, but that's part of its charm! Public transportation here is excellent, so you can easily get around without a car. Enjoy your Portland adventure!
