So let’s talk truth of dentures✨
So I picked my dentures up today. Keep in mind I haven’t had any teeth since April and haven’t had a full set in over 13 years. So some things I wasn’t aware of and they didn’t tell me. Some things they did tell me but didn’t believe.
1. I was told that I would be like a baby learning to eat again. I didn’t believe it would be that hard or difficult. Let’s say after thousands of dollars today when I am still eating mush and I can’t figure out how to bite or chew. I am completely exhausted and feeling defeated. I really felt I would have an easier time. It was devastating.
2. I would have to learn to talk with them. I knew that would be a challenge. Was expecting it to be awhile before I was ready to talk. Well turn out wasn’t so hard. I do sound a little funny with some words but hey I am talking better than I assumed I would.
3. I would gag a lot while getting used to them. I didn’t really think to much about that one. Well yea I gag a lot. Hopefully it will stop the longer I wear them.
4. How awful glue tastes. Nobody warned me that it would leave a very funky taste and feeling. I kinda expected weird feeling but the tastes is strange.
5. How sore my entire face would be. My entire face hurts so bad, and cause a headache my mouth is sore. It’s like over doing it on a workout when you’re out of shape. Nobody mentioned that.
6. That they look pretty and you have a surge of confidence, and then you will have a surge of fear and anxiety that people will be able to tell.
7. That drinking without a straw will move them around. Which it could be the glue I have doesn’t work well for me. But at the moment I have to use a straw.
8. That if you smoke it is very difficult to do with them in. It may become easier and it may not. I mean I guess I could quit smoking and that might be a good thing. But who said I wanted to quit.
So based on my first day, I am pretty devastated and depressed about them. I have an anniversary Friday and was so hoping to be able to go and eat, and that’s not possible. Right now I have thousands of dollars in this and for what to look nice in a picture or when I smile at someone. Cause I can’t eat, I can’t smoke. Right now I feel defeated like why did I even try this. Maybe I should have kept them the way they was. This whole experience has ruined food for me. At this point I don’t enjoy food or dinner. I just eat to stay alive . No enjoyment.
