Grace and Works are Partners in Faith 🥰

I’ve been sitting with some deep truths from Mosiah 2 tonight. I first read this chapter as a young man, and it still hits me the same. It’s a powerful reminder that we can never do enough or thank the Lord enough for the mountain of blessings He pours out.

Here is what’s on my heart:

🤝 The Divine Partnership: Service(Works) and Grace aren’t competing; they work together. It’s only through the Savior’s loving grace that I’m even able to do anything in the first place.

🧭 The Love Language: How do we show love to God? It’s simple—keep His commandments (John 14:15).

🌿 The Promise: He prospers us when we obey—not because we "earned" it, but because He promised it. His blessings flow from pure love.

🔒 The Constant: He never varies. His grace is steady, dependable, and anchored in covenant love. When we obey Him, He blesses us. Every time.

We may not notice the blessings along the way, but like footsteps in the sand, His steps combine with ours to walk with us especially when we struggle the most and put our faith in Him.

... Read moreReflecting on Mosiah 2 has truly deepened my understanding of how grace and works function together in faith. Often, people wonder whether relying on grace means they can be passive in their lives. However, this scripture clarifies that our actions—our works—are not separate from grace but are enabled by it. From personal experience, I’ve noticed that when I strive to keep God’s commandments, I feel a sense of peace and alignment that no amount of success can replace. It’s not about earning blessings but about entering a covenant relationship where God’s love and promises are consistent and dependable. Like the scripture states, “He never doth vary from that which he hath said.” This constancy encourages me to persist even when challenges arise because I trust that my efforts are not in vain. I have also found that serving others, a key work of faith, naturally flows from receiving God’s grace. This divine partnership feels like walking hand-in-hand with God—my steps combined with His—especially in difficult moments. The promise of prospering when obeying His commandments doesn’t just mean material wealth; it includes spiritual growth, stronger relationships, and inner strength. This holistic view helps me avoid the pitfall of legalism or complacency. Instead, it inspires a joy-filled obedience, knowing that every act of service is a response to His love, and every blessing is a gift, not a reward. For anyone struggling with balancing faith and works, Mosiah 2 offers a comforting reminder that grace empowers us to live faithfully, and works demonstrate that grace at work in our lives.
