Mokyo NYC Restaurant Week 🍽️

Tried Mokyo for NYC Restaurant Week — $45 for 3 courses + a shared dessert, and honestly, the food was phenomenal 🤤

The scallop ceviche, yellowtail crudo, and corn dumplings were the standouts. The entrees were just okay in comparison, and keep in mind that dessert is one per two guests.

Portions are on the smaller side, but I’d definitely say it’s worth the $45 for the unique flavors and variety.

Mokyo is a cozy, intimate East Village spot serving creative Korean-inspired small plates.

... Read moreDuring NYC Restaurant Week, I had the chance to dive deeper into Mokyo’s unique Korean-inspired menu beyond just the standout appetizers. Although the scallop ceviche, yellowtail crudo, and corn dumplings were indeed the highlights, I found the entrees also showcased interesting flavor combinations that reflect Korean culinary influences creatively fused with contemporary techniques. For example, dishes such as the chicken yakitori glazed with spicy gochujang and the Berkshire rib with a soy and muhammara sauce offered a delightful mix of heat and savory depth. Their presentation was elegant yet inviting, perfectly complementing the cozy and intimate East Village setting. While the portion sizes were modest—as often expected in prix fixe NYC Restaurant Week offerings—the variety of textures and layering of flavors left a memorable impression. Another noteworthy touch was the dessert policy—only one shared dessert for every two guests—but the Korean donut with tahini butter and fermented honey was an inventive sweet finale worth savoring. The combination of traditional Korean elements with unexpected ingredients like tahini really elevated the dining experience. From my personal perspective, Mokyo excels in bringing Korean fusion to the forefront in a manner that feels fresh yet authentic. For adventurous food lovers during NYC Restaurant Week, this spot is a fantastic way to explore inventive small plates that go beyond typical Korean cuisine. I would especially recommend trying the seafood starters and the corn dumplings as a must-have. The restaurant’s location on St Marks Place makes it an easy and inviting destination for anyone spending time in the East Village, combining accessibility with a relaxed vibe. Overall, Mokyo offers great value considering the quality and creativity packed into their prix fixe menu. If you appreciate culinary experimentation paired with cozy atmospheres, this restaurant is definitely worth adding to your NYC Restaurant Week itinerary. For diners planning their visit, keep in mind the prix fixe pricing excludes tax and gratuity, and the prix fixe duration is limited (July 20 - August 16, 2026). Reservations might be recommended given the cozy setting and increasing buzz this spot is generating during the event.
