Cortisol, the stress hormone, can hinder weight loss. High cortisol levels disrupt digestion and fat burning, leading to increased insulin and weight gain. Managing stress through balanced eating and lifestyle choices is crucial. When cortisol is high insulin is high when insulin is high your cells are overwhelmed and we start storing fat. You can’t be stressed and getting healthy at the same time. When you’re in fight or flight response your body can’t do anything, it shuts down all other hormones that are meant for keeping you alive. It’s not just triggered by work or an argument, it can be triggered by highly restrictive diets and even over exercising. Trying to force your body into to being healthy can have the opposite effect you desire.
