Fairy Tale Christmas Markets

All Christmas markets are full of holiday magic, but some just feel as if you’ve stepped into a literal fairy tale. These markets are that for me and here’s why:

Frankfurt, Germany - The Romerberg Square market located in the historic quarter is one of the oldest and most beautiful markets. The colorful half-timbered houses make you feel like you are in a Christmas market surrounded by gingerbread houses.

Innsbruck, Austria - The Alstadt (Old Town) market literally has a fairy tale themed street, full of giants and storybook characters hidden on the booths and rooftops.

Colmar, France - Canals, half-timbered houses, teddy bears - oh, and this town is one that inspired the town from Beauty and the Beast! Can’t get more fairytale than that!

Cologne, Germany - Several themed markets here including a nautical/pirate market (Harbor Market), an elf/gnome market (Heinzels Wintermarchen) and an angel market (Markt der Engel). Walk under a canopy of lights at the cathedral market, it feels like a dream.

Strasbourg, France - Teddy bears in hot air balloons, an entire teddy bear house, elves and polar bears and gingerbread men looking over you from all the rooftops. Pure Christmas magic.
