Colmar, France - most picturesque city
Colmar is one of the most picturesque places you will visit, especially during Christmas time. From the Venice-like canals to the half-timber “gingerbread “ houses, to being completely covered in festive decor, there is no shortage of photo ops in this quaint town that inspired the village in Beauty and Beast.
Here are my favorite photos and where I took them:
1 - The road between La Petite Venise and Quai de la Poissonnerie has some of the prettiest colored half-timber houses and is a beautiful photo spot.
2 - Pont St. Pierre bridge over the Launch River in Petite Venise (little Venice). This is a hot spot so get here early for less crowds. You can also take gondola rides in the river here.
3 - Au Vieux Pignon, a souvenir shop well- known for their elaborate decor.
4 - Claude Kraetz - pastry shop with golden shutters and beautiful decor.
5 - Brasserie des Tanneurs - beautiful whimsical decor on the building. Also a popular tourist spot so make reservations if you are planning to dine here.
6 - Just outside the Gourmet Christmas market is a decorated Colmar photo sign.
7 - Maison dite Au Pelerin - the famous pink house, one of the most well- known photo spots in the city. Also quite busy and recommend stopping here early for less crowds.
8-10 - Wander the streets of the Old Town area. There are so many beautifully decorated store fronts, restaurants and Christmas trees, the entire city itself is a photo op!
