~ AmLactin 12% lactic acid lotion which I use on my keratosis pilaris (strawberry/chicken skin) arms.

🗣Tips: I recommend making sure your skin is wet and then putting the lotion and a layer of Vaseline on top to lock all the moisture in!

*Not pictured are the steroid creams I was prescribed my the doctor for my really red dry spots so I recommend going to a dermatologist first*

I’ve tried countless products, but one game-changer for my body care routine has truly been incorporating lactic acid body lotions. If you're wondering why everyone raves about them, let me share my experience! Lactic acid, a gentle alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), works wonders because it does two key things: it mildly exfoliates and it hydrates. Unlike harsher exfoliants, it helps to gently slough off dead skin cells that contribute to rough patches and bumpy skin, like with KP. At the same same time, it acts as a humectant, drawing moisture into the skin. For sensitive skin, this gentle approach is crucial. It means you can tackle dryness and texture without triggering irritation. I personally found that my skin felt smoother and looked healthier without any redness or stinging, which used to be a common issue with other treatments. Integrating a lactic acid body lotion into your skincare routine is quite straightforward. I usually apply it right after my shower, while my skin is still slightly damp. This helps to lock in that extra moisture. For those with sensitive skin or if you're new to AHAs, I highly recommend starting slowly, perhaps every other day, to see how your skin reacts.
