Leviticus 7-9 recap

God continues to give Moses instructions on Mount Sinai. The guilt offerings, like the sin offerings, are called most holy, and any male from the priest’s family who is doing the sacrifice may eat the meat from it in a holy place. The priest can keep the hide of the animal used in a burnt offering, as well as the grain offerings they present that were baked in an oven, prepared in a pan, or cooked on a griddle. The rest of the grain offerings are to be shared equally among all the priests. A peace offering of thanksgiving should be bread with and without yeast offered with the usual animal sacrifice. Various instructions are given about which parts of the sacrificial meat can be eaten, when and by who. Fat from a dead animal can be used for anything except eating and the blood of animals can never be consumed. Then Moses follows all the Lord’s instructions. He anoints the Tabernacle and the priests, in their holy clothes, and offers all the sacrifices that the Lord commanded. After the ordination week, Aaron follows Gods instructions to presents offerings to purify himself. He gives offerings to purify the people and blesses them. Then the glory of the Lord appears to the people. The fire of the Lord consumes the offering on the altar, and the people fall on the ground.

... Read moreHey everyone! I've been spending some time in Leviticus lately, and I know it can feel like a really dense book with all those laws and regulations. But honestly, diving into chapters 7-9 has been surprisingly insightful, especially when you dig a little deeper than just a quick recap. It's not just about ancient rituals; it's about understanding God's heart for holiness and how He wanted His people to approach Him. One part that really stuck out to me, and something I often wondered about, is Leviticus 7:12. This verse specifically talks about the peace offering when it's made for *thanksgiving*. The original article touched on it, mentioning "bread with and without yeast," but there's a richness there that’s worth exploring. Imagine bringing this special "ANIMAL SACRIFICE" along with different kinds of bread – unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers smeared with oil, and cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, fried. It paints such a vivid picture of a deliberate act of gratitude. The peace offering itself was unique because it was about fellowship and communion with God. Unlike "GUILT OFFERINGS" or "SIN" offerings, which focused on atonement, the peace offering was often celebratory. When it was for thanksgiving, it wasn't about a specific sin but about expressing heartfelt appreciation for God's blessings. The different kinds of bread symbolize purity (unleavened, no corruption) and richness (oil, a symbol of anointing and God's Spirit). It makes me think about how we offer our thanks today – isn't it also a form of communion, bringing our purest and best to God out of a grateful heart? The instructions throughout these chapters for the "PRIESTS" and how they handled the "MEAT" from these sacrifices, and even the "GRAIN OFFERINGS," are incredibly detailed. It emphasizes the sacredness of the entire process. For instance, the strict command that the "BLOOD OF ANIMALS CAN NEVER BE CONSUMED" and how "FAT FROM" the animal could be used but not eaten, all pointed to specific theological truths. Blood represented life, which belonged only to God, and the fat was considered the best portion, also reserved for Him. These weren't arbitrary rules; they were constant reminders of God's holiness and the seriousness of approaching Him. It’s also amazing to read about "MOSES FOLLOWS ALL THE LORD'S" commands, anointing the "TABERNACLE AND THE PRIESTS," and then "AARON FOLLOWS GOD'S INSTRUCTIONS" to present "OFFERINGS TO PURIFY" himself and the people. This whole process culminated in the "GLORY OF THE LORD" appearing and the "FIRE OF THE LORD CONSUMES THE OFFERING" on the altar. Can you imagine witnessing that? It wasn't just a ritual; it was a powerful, visible demonstration of God's acceptance and presence among His people. It truly shows that God commanded these sacrifices for a reason – to draw near to His people in a holy way. Even though we don’t offer "ANIMAL SACRIFICE" today, these chapters teach us so much about reverence, gratitude, and the importance of a pure heart in our worship. It highlights that true worship involves dedication, obedience, and a deep understanding of who God is. It makes me reflect on my own walk and ask: Am I bringing my 'best' to God in thanks? Am I living a life that reflects His holiness? Diving into Leviticus might seem challenging, but it’s loaded with spiritual gold!
