Recap of my paintings from the past year!
Wow, what a year of art it's been! As my '2024 Recap!' shows, looking back at all the pieces I created genuinely fills me with so much pride and a little nostalgia. It's incredible to see how much I've grown and experimented, especially with my watercolor illustrations. When I started out, I was mostly focusing on perfecting basic techniques, but this year, I really pushed myself to explore more complex compositions and vibrant color palettes. One of the things I love most about sharing my art journey is connecting with others who are passionate about creativity. I've noticed a lot of interesting 'art trends' popping up this past year, especially within the online art community. For my anime and manga art, I found myself increasingly drawn to dynamic poses and expressive character designs, which seemed to be a popular direction. It’s always inspiring to see what other artists are creating, and it definitely fueled my own creative spark. Sometimes, just scrolling through art feeds gives me that little push to pick up my brush. Staying 'creative' isn't always easy, though. There were definitely moments of art block, but I learned a few tricks to get past them. One thing that really helped was just sketching freely, without any pressure to create a masterpiece. Sometimes I'd just doodle random characters or landscapes with my watercolors, and it would often lead to a breakthrough idea for a larger piece. Also, having a dedicated art space, even if it's just a corner of a room, made a huge difference. It feels like a little sanctuary where I can fully immerse myself in my process. Speaking of process, I often get asked about my 'purchase' decisions for art supplies. This year, I invested in a few new watercolor sets and some different types of paper, which honestly felt like a mini-celebration for my progress. Finding the right tools can truly elevate your work. For my anime and manga illustrations, I experimented with some new fineliner pens and a fresh set of alcohol markers for bolder lines and smoother blending. It's amazing how much a good quality brush or a perfectly crisp sheet of paper can impact the final look and feel of a painting. I always try to 'review' new products before committing, and I’ve found that reading other artists’ experiences is super helpful. This '2024 Recap!' isn't just about showing off what I've done; it's also a moment to reflect on the lessons learned and plan for the future. My goal for next year is to dive even deeper into storytelling through my illustrations, perhaps even trying out some sequential art. I hope my journey inspires some of you to pick up your own brushes or pens and start creating. Remember, every stroke is part of your unique artistic story!
