... Read moreLately, I've been truly exploring what it means to live a life centered on God, others, and then myself. It's a concept that deeply resonates with the message of Philippians 2:3, which encourages us to 'in humility value others above yourselves.' This isn't always easy, right? In a world that often tells us to prioritize 'me first,' embracing genuine humility and valuing others can feel counter-cultural, yet it’s where I've found incredible peace and purpose.
For me, this journey began with simple acts. It's about consciously listening more than speaking, offering help without expecting anything in return, and celebrating others' successes as if they were my own. It's about truly understanding what it means to lift others up, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or simply being present. This mindset shift isn't about diminishing yourself; it's about finding strength and joy in pouring into others, recognizing that we are all interconnected.
Sometimes, when I feel overwhelmed or uncertain about my path, I turn to scriptures that offer divine encouragement. A verse that has been particularly uplifting for me is 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17: 'May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.' This reminds me that God's love and grace are constant sources of strength. It's through His encouragement that we find the capacity to extend grace and humility to those around us, even when it's challenging.
This perspective also ties into the idea that 'promotion comes from God.' It’s not about striving for worldly recognition or status through our own efforts alone. Instead, it’s about trusting in God's perfect timing and plan. When we focus on serving Him and others with a humble heart, seeking to embody the principles of Philippians 2:3, we open ourselves up to divine blessings and purpose. True promotion, in a spiritual sense, often looks like increased capacity for love, joy, and service, rather than just material gain. It’s a quiet inner growth that God cultivates in us as we faithfully seek to value others and live out His commands.
So, how do I apply this daily? I try to start my day with prayer, asking God to guide my interactions and help me see opportunities to serve. During the day, if I catch myself focusing too much on my own needs or desires, I pause and consciously shift my focus to how I can be a blessing to someone else. It's a continuous practice, a daily choice to put 'God, others, self' into action. And what I've discovered is that in lifting others up, I find myself being lifted up in return, experiencing a profound sense of fulfillment and connection that truly enriches my Christian lifestyle.
Amen 🙏✝️❤️🕊Blessings
