It's so easy to look at our circumstances and instantly try to figure things out ourselves, isn't it? We lean on our job, our savings, or even specific people, hoping they'll be the answer to our problems. But I've learned a profound truth that has shifted my entire perspective: God is your source. Not people, not your job, not your connections. Everything else is simply a resource He provides. This isn't just a nice sentiment; it's a foundational principle that brings incredible peace when you truly embrace it. For a long time, I struggled with anxiety about the future, especially when my job felt unstable or a friend couldn't come through for me. It felt like my security was constantly shifting. But then I started to genuinely ponder what it means for God to be my ultimate provider. It means He is limitless, unfailing, and always knows exactly what I need, even before I do. The Bible often reminds us of this. Think about Deuteronomy 8:17-18 NIV, where it says, “You may say to yourselves, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” This verse beautifully clarifies that even our ability to earn, our jobs, and our connections are gifts from Him. They are resources, not the source itself. Embracing this perspective has truly transformed my daily life. When I face a challenge, instead of panicking and trying to manipulate situations or people, my first instinct is now to turn to God. I remind myself that I will trust in God to supply my needs, because He is faithful. This isn't passive; it’s an active choice to rely on His wisdom and timing. It helps me to understand the beauty of God's plan, knowing that even when things don't go my way, there's a divine purpose at play. His ways are higher than mine, and His provision often looks different, and better, than what I had imagined. So, how do we practically live out this truth that God is your source? First, it starts with a daily surrender. Acknowledging that our perceived sources are temporary and limited, while God is eternal and abundant. Second, it involves prayer – openly communicating our needs, fears, and hopes to Him, and then actively listening for His guidance. Third, it means cultivating gratitude for the resources He does provide through various channels, recognizing His hand in every blessing, big or small. When we truly trust God not people, we free ourselves from the disappointment that comes when human resources inevitably fall short. We anchor our hope in the One who never fails. It’s a journey, but one that leads to profound peace and unwavering faith in God as the source of all good things.
