This makes RFID invaluable in logistics and inventory management where identifying items from a distance without line-of-sight is critical. For example, RFID is commonly used in warehouse tracking or toll collection. Operating frequencies also differ: NFC and high-frequency RFID both run at 13.56 MHz, while low-frequency RFID operates around 125 kHz and ultra-high frequency RFID can vary between 860-960 MHz. These frequency differences influence data transfer rates and range. NFC has data rates typically up to 424 kbps, sufficient for quick exchanges like payment info. Security implementations vary too. NFC relies on the short communication range and established secure channel protocols, which is why it's preferred for sensitive transactions. RFID security depends on the tag design, power source (some RFID tags are battery-powered), and encryption methods, which can range from none to moderate complexity. Personally, integrating NFC for device pairing has been seamless and user-friendly, with the added benefit of reduced security risks due to near-field reach. Meanwhile, RFID systems require more careful planning regarding reader placement and tag selection to optimize range and reduce interference.
