Nursing school & toddler! Breastfeeding + Daycare

Although I haven’t started nursing school officially, doing the nursing prereqs while my son was a baby was difficult.

✨School and breastfeeding 🤱 🍼✨

My son was starting to eat solids around this time so I would nurse before I left and after I came back. During he ate purées and small bits of food.

I had to pump while in school because it would get engorged and painful. Eventually, I could go longer stretches without pumping. It was difficult to find the breast pumping room that the school set aside and the code to get in the room.

I also sought accommodations to be able to have extra time on exams to be able to pump and not be uncomfortable. I never ended up using the extra time.

✨Daycare✨

I am currently in the process of securing a daycare. I’ve toured 3 of them so far. Surprisingly 2 of them have spaces open immediately. They are both great options and have developmental activities that they work on with them. One of them has camera access to the facility

I am nervous that my son will misbehave since he is now 2 years old. Hitting and saying no at this age is considered normal if done occasionally. When I toured the kids looked very well behaved so I’m not too concerned with the other kids.

✨During nursing school✨

I think that it’s definitely going to be tough. There seems to be a few other parents in my program… probably 5 in total. Idk why I expected there to be more but I’m sure that combined with previous years there are plenty of parents that have done it.

One of the professors went through the program 12 years ago as a mom to two!

I’m sure that I truly could not be able to do it if it weren’t the support from my family.

Wish me luck 🍀 😩
