under $5 aldi fruit grocery restock & storage tips

I went to Aldi recently for a quick fruit restock because we go through it like crazy in our house and we were starting to run low! Here’s the breakdown storage tips and the total cost of my super small aldi haul for my fruit obsessed toddler 💕

Strawberries 🍓: $1.79 (ON SALE RN!!)

Bananas 🍌: $.84

Blackberries: $2.19

Total Cost: $4.82!

✨Compared to other popular stores, this would’ve been $7.73 at Kroger, and $6.21 at Walmart. ✨

I love buying some of my produce at Aldi because it’s affordable and seems to last longer, BUT still not long enough. I love to keep my fruit as fresh as possible so I like to store them in an airtight container. I bought these at Target, but you can also use something like a mason jar!

What are your top tips for making your fruit last longer? 👇🏻💕

... Read moreI’ve found shopping at Aldi to be a great way to keep fresh fruit affordable without compromising quality. What really helps me stretch these purchases is the way I store my fruit once I get home. For strawberries and blackberries, rinsing them gently and then drying them thoroughly before placing them in airtight containers makes a huge difference. It prevents moisture buildup that causes mold and spoilage. I grabbed some airtight containers from Target, but using mason jars or any container with a tight seal works just as well. Bananas are a bit trickier since they emit ethylene gas, which speeds up ripening. I like to keep them separate from other fruits and sometimes wrap the stems with plastic wrap to slow down the process. Plus, I place them on a banana hanger to prevent bruising and keep my countertop tidy. One unexpected tip I’ve learned is to wash berries only before eating rather than immediately after buying. This keeps them fresher longer because excess moisture accelerates spoilage. Also, if I notice berries starting to soften, I quickly use them in smoothies or freeze them for later use. Overall, this Aldi haul was surprisingly budget-friendly compared to other stores — with prices like $1.79 for strawberries and just $.84 for bananas, and blackberries at $2.19. I encourage others to explore Aldi for affordable produce shopping, and definitely invest in proper storage solutions. It not only saves money but helps reduce food waste, which is something my toddler’s fruit obsession makes me very aware of! What storage methods have you found useful? I’d love to hear your tips to make the most of fresh fruit purchases.

I have berry containers, but mine are big and bulky, so I never use them. I like yours a lot better.
