Depression
I have been battling depression for years. I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and social anxiety when I was 19.
I have tried many medicines over the years, but the side effects always interfere with my job, so I always just quit taking them.
Since September, the depression has been hitting me pretty hard, and I hate it. People around me think I'm being anti-social and lazy when, in reality, I am struggling every day just to get out of bed, and I don't want people seeing me that way.
Any tips on how to overcome this and feel better without medication would be helpful.
Depression affects millions, but many still seek ways to cope without traditional medication. Exploring therapy options like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) can provide effective tools to manage symptoms. Additionally, lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep significantly contribute to emotional well-being. Building a support system of family, friends, or support groups can also help combat feelings of isolation. Practicing mindfulness and meditation may further alleviate anxiety and depressive symptoms. Understanding the importance of self-care, setting small achievable goals, and finding hobbies can foster a sense of purpose. Remember that everyone's journey with depression is unique, and it's okay to seek help from professionals when needed. Exploring these avenues may provide relief and improvement in daily functioning.
