Moon Taeil needed to get 7 years, not 3!! (⚠️ S/A⚠️)
Moon Taeil, former NCT member, was accused and later arrested for S/A of a female Chinese tourist. Him and two other men were only sentenced to 3 and 1/2 years each. Even the district judge said their acts were, “extremely grave”, yet their prison sentence was lowered by almost 4 whole years during the sentence hearing on July 10th. I find this absurd and it really makes me wonder if less time was given just bc he is/was an idol who was very successful and active. However, I don’t feel like that’s the case bc plenty of idols are charged a good amount of prison time, even a former BangBang member, so why does Taeil and the other two receive such little time?
An article written by Jin Yu Young from the New York Times states, “Taeil, 31, whose legal name is Moon Tae-il, had pleaded guilty last month along with the other two. According to the local media, the defendants met the woman, a Chinese national, at a bar in Seoul. They took her in a taxi to the home of one of the defendants, where they sexually assaulted her while she was heavily intoxicated.” And they don’t get the original 7 years?!?! Not only was she intoxicated, but writter Kelly Ng from BBC News, reporting from Singapore stated, “South Korean law describes this specific kind of rape as "aggravated" because it was a group attack, and a "quasi rape", as the victim was unconscious.” So they were charged with aggravated rape bc she was freaking unconscious as well? It just keeps getting worse. This means this poor woman was having some drinks at a bar, Taeil and his 2 friends approached her, she was extremely drunk, they took her to his friend, Lee’s, house and sexually assaulted her, to the point where she was either unconscious during or after the assault. This is just stupid to me that they get only 3 years, that’s half the original sentence like I don’t get it. Anyone else have those same thoughts, or even different ones, let me know bc I’ve seen almost no complaints online abt this and that’s crazy.
