... Read moreIt's always heartbreaking when your little one isn't feeling their best, isn't it? As a parent, I'm constantly looking for gentle, natural ways to bring them some comfort. That's why I absolutely adore this Toddler Edition of the Medicine Ball, and it’s truly TODDLER APPROVED in my house! When my child has a cough or a tummy ache, I often turn to mint tea. While the original recipe uses a general 'Mint tea,' I've found that peppermint tea specifically can be a real lifesaver. Peppermint is known for its soothing properties, which can be fantastic for easing an upset stomach or even helping to clear up congestion. It's like a warm hug from the inside! However, when you're giving peppermint tea to children, especially toddlers, there are a few things to keep in mind. Always make sure it's quite diluted – I usually use just one tea bag for a larger cup of water to make it less potent. And, of course, ensure it's cooled to a lukewarm temperature before offering it to them. You can always check with your pediatrician if you have any concerns, but generally, in moderation, it's a lovely natural remedy. To make it extra appealing for my little one, I follow a similar idea to the Medicine Ball: I brew a mild peppermint tea, letting it steep just for a minute or two. Then, I add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or a splash of lemonade (like in our main recipe!), which not only adds a lovely flavor but also provides some vitamin C. A drizzle of raw honey (if your toddler is over one year old, of course!) makes it sweet and even more comforting for a sore throat. The combo of Peach Tea and Mint Green Tea from the Medicine Ball recipe is also fantastic for this! Beyond just drinking it, I've also found other ways to use mint to help my sick toddler. Sometimes, just having a little essential oil diffuser with a very diluted mint oil (away from their direct breathing space) can help clear stuffy noses. A warm bath with some calming scents can also work wonders. Remember, the goal is comfort and hydration. When they're sick, getting fluids into them is paramount. This homemade Medicine Ball is such a gentle way to do that. Paired with plenty of rest, cuddles, and maybe a favorite story, it can make those tough days a little bit easier for everyone. I hope your little one feels better soon!
