Stuffed shells w/side salad

As I stand here in the kitchen, guiding my mother through this recipe for stuffed shells, I find myself reflecting on the beauty of healing.

Every ingredient has a purpose.

Every step takes time.

Nothing can be rushed.

As I watch my mother carefully learn something new, I’m reminded that my own body is learning too—learning how to heal, how to recover, and how to trust the process.

After my accident, I wanted so badly to get back to the person I used to be.

The woman I was before the pain.

The woman I was before the surgeries.

The woman I was before everything changed.

But God has been whispering to my heart that I’m not being called back to who I was.

I’m being called forward into who He is creating me to become.

Healing has a way of slowing you down long enough to hear the voice of God.

Long enough to realize that your worth was never found in how much you could do for others.

Long enough to understand that rest is holy too.

For years, I poured into everyone around me.

I gave my time.

My energy.

My love.

My gifts.

And while there is beauty in serving others, God is teaching me that there is also beauty in caring for myself.

So in this season, I am choosing to heal.

I am choosing to rest.

I am choosing to believe that what feels like a setback is really preparation for something greater.

The woman I used to be is not gone.

She planted the seeds.

But the woman God is growing now…

She is blooming.

And as I continue this journey of recovery, I’m gathering every dream God placed inside of me.

One by one.

Piece by piece.

Prayer by prayer.

Trusting that in His perfect timing, they will bloom too.

Because healing isn’t just restoring what was lost.

Sometimes healing is God creating something even more beautiful than before.
