Cold Plunging🧊

After a week of runs and workouts, my favorite way to recover is going to Bathhouse and going in the cold plunge.

The plunge is usually anywhere from 45-52 degrees. I usually warm my body up in the sauna for 15 mins rinse in the shower and then go in the cold plunge pool for 3-4 minutes.

It’s physically and mentally challenging, but it is so good for your body and mind.

It speeds up muscle recovery and helps ease stress!

Have you ever cold plunged before?🥶

... Read moreCold plunging, also known as cold water therapy, has gained popularity in recent years for its numerous health benefits. Engaging in this practice typically involves immersing oneself in water temperatures between 45-52 degrees Fahrenheit. Many athletes swear by cold plunging as a key aspect of their recovery process following intense workouts or strenuous exercise. The practice is believed to have roots in ancient cultures, where natural springs and cold lakes were used for their therapeutic properties. Cold plunging can significantly speed up muscle recovery by reducing inflammation and soreness. When exposed to cold temperatures, blood vessels constrict, which helps to reduce swelling and flush out lactic acid—a common contributor to muscle soreness. After exiting the cold plunge, the body warms up, causing blood vessels to dilate and increasing blood flow, which promotes healing. Beyond physical recovery, many practitioners note mental health benefits as well. Cold plunging can enhance the body's resilience to stress by activating the autonomic nervous system, leading to improved mood and reduced anxiety. The shock of the cold water can also serve as a form of mindfulness, encouraging individuals to focus on their breath and bodily sensations, which can lead to a sense of calm and clarity. Incorporating cold plunging into your routine can be a unique way to enhance overall wellness. As recovery practices evolve, integrating such invigorating techniques can contribute positively to fitness journeys, making it an essential element for those seeking a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Have you tried cold plunging? Let’s explore this refreshing journey together!
