3 Waterfalls I’ll Never Forget in Iceland 💧🇮🇸

When I planned my Iceland trip, I didn’t expect the waterfalls to feel this magical. Seeing these three in one day honestly felt like stepping into a fantasy movie.

Seljalandsfoss – Walking behind the waterfall was unreal. The sound was so loud I couldn’t even hear myself think—and yes, I got completely soaked.

🌈 Skógafoss – I felt the mist on my face before I even got close. I climbed all those stairs to the top, out of breath but in total awe of the view.

❄️ Gullfoss Falls – The power of this one is next level. I just stood there for a while, watching the spray rise and feeling tiny in the best way.

I did a half day tour of the Golden Circle, and a full day tour of the Southern Coast to be able to see these three beauties. #lemon8partner

... Read moreIceland is renowned for its breathtaking waterfalls, and visiting Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, and Gullfoss Falls offers a spectacular glimpse into the country's natural beauty. Seljalandsfoss stands out for its unique feature—you can walk behind the waterfall. This creates a surreal experience as you are surrounded by cascading water, with the roar loud enough to drown out all other sounds. It's important to wear waterproof clothing and protect your camera gear, as you’ll likely get soaked. This waterfall is especially magical around sunset when the light creates shimmering rainbows in the mist. Skógafoss is another iconic waterfall, known for its impressive 60-meter drop and consistent water flow. Visitors often feel the fine mist before they arrive, adding to the excitement. For a breathtaking perspective, climb the stairs alongside the waterfall to reach the viewpoint above. From here, panoramic views over the Icelandic landscape unfold, rewarding your effort with stunning photo opportunities. Gullfoss Falls, part of the famous Golden Circle route, is a powerful two-tiered waterfall that commands respect. The sheer volume and force of the water generate a fine spray that rises like a cloud, creating an almost otherworldly atmosphere. Standing close, you can truly appreciate the scale and might of Iceland’s natural forces. These waterfalls are conveniently accessed via popular tourism routes—the Golden Circle half-day tour includes Gullfoss, while the Southern Coast full-day tour covers Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Combining these trips in one itinerary offers a diverse experience of Iceland’s landscape in a relatively short time. When planning your visits, consider the time of year: summer months provide midnight sun and warmer weather, while winter offers spectacular ice formations and the chance to see the waterfalls surrounded by snow and ice. Regardless of the season, these waterfalls exemplify the raw beauty and power of Icelandic nature, leaving a lasting impression on every traveler.
