What’s better than a DIY Trader Joe’s date night🥟✨

I love a good Trader Joe’s dinner from the freezer section (get me an IV drip of that butternut squash Mac & cheese please 🫠), but I also love challenging myself to see what recipes I can recreate.

Trader Joe’s Chicken Gyoza Potstickers not only seemed like an easy place to start, but a super fun date night idea!

We had a lot of fun making these, and while they might not be the most picture perfect of the bunch, they truthfully turned out to be so flavorful, and make great next day lunch leftovers too!

Ingredients

🥟 Wonton wrappers

🥕 Carrots, finely diced

🧅 Spring onion, finely diced

💛 Ginger, finely diced

🧄 Garlic, finely diced

🐓 Ground chicken

1. Heat sesame oil over medium high heat.

2. Cook ground chicken and break down into small pieces, in final 2min of cooking, add in finely diced veggies, cooking 3-4min more.

3. Set cooking mixture aside to slightly cool

4. Place 1tbsp of mixture into center of wonton wrapper. Dip your finger tips in water, and trace the edges of the wrapper, fold into pattern pictured above, and press to seal.

5. Wipe pan used for chicken clean, and heat again to medium high. Place pot stickers on, and fry until crispy on bottom.

6. Pour 1/4 cup water into pan, and cover 2-3min or until wonton wrappers are cooked through and water has

evaporated.

Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce!

... Read moreOkay, so you're probably wondering about Trader Joe's gyoza wrappers, right? I totally get it! While my date night recipe uses wonton wrappers (which, let's be real, are super versatile for making gyoza-style potstickers!), Trader Joe's is a treasure trove for all things dumpling-related ingredients. When you head to TJ's, you'll usually find the 'WON TON WRAPPERS' in the refrigerated section, often tucked away near the specialty cheeses or fresh pasta. They're typically labeled with clear storage instructions, reminding you they are 'PERISHABLE' and to 'KEEP REFRIGERATED,' always with a handy 'USE BY' date. It's a good idea to check the expiry, especially if you're planning ahead! Don't confuse these raw wrappers with their delicious frozen pre-made gyoza – those are fantastic for a super quick meal, but these wrappers are for your full DIY culinary adventures! One thing I've definitely learned while experimenting is to keep your wrappers covered with a damp cloth or paper towel while you're working to prevent them from drying out. Nothing worse than brittle, cracking wrappers mid-assembly! And for sealing, just a little bit of water on the edges, as I mentioned in my potsticker recipe, works wonders to create a tight, secure seal. A little trick: for extra crispiness, sometimes I like to lightly dust the bottom of my sealed potstickers with a tiny bit of cornstarch before frying. Beyond potstickers, these Trader Joe's wrappers are incredibly versatile. I've used them to make quick and crispy fried wontons – just a little cream cheese and chives, then deep fry or air fry! They're also fantastic for savory bites like mini quiches or even sweet treats like apple pie bites. Just fill, seal, and bake or fry. Imagine a quick dessert with spiced apples wrapped up in these, or even savory sausage rolls on a smaller scale. Such an easy way to elevate a simple meal or snack without much effort. And let's talk dipping sauces! While a classic soy sauce with a touch of rice vinegar and sesame oil is always a winner, don't be afraid to experiment. I love adding a pinch of chili flakes for a kick, or even making a creamy peanut dipping sauce. Trader Joe's also has some amazing ready-made sauces that pair perfectly, like their Gyoza Dipping Sauce or a sweet chili sauce. Personalizing your dipping experience really makes your homemade potstickers pop. Having a stash of these 'WON TON WRAPPERS' in your fridge means a delicious, easy, and customizable meal is always just minutes away – perfect for those spontaneous cooking cravings!
