What I Eat in a day counting my calories!
Total calories 1,550
Day 25/75 of my #75hardchallenge
I tried some new things and I loved them.
Strawberry Banana Core Protein was SO good! I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did.
& then dinner was also so good. The only thing I would change is adding some flour to thicken the gravy-like sauce.
I’ve been making a lot of the same things. The next time I go grocery shopping I am switching a lot of things up.
Sticking to a specific calorie target, especially around the 1400-1550 range, can feel like a daunting task, but trust me, it’s totally achievable and incredibly rewarding! I've been on my own journey, and I've learned that it's all about smart choices, delicious food, and a little bit of planning. Let me share some insights on how I make it work, focusing on keeping those protein levels up and finding joy in every meal. First off, when you’re aiming for around 1400-1550 calories, every meal counts, but it doesn't mean sacrificing flavor. For breakfast, I often lean towards options that are satisfying and quick. Sometimes, it’s those comforting cinnamon raisin bagels, but other days, I might opt for a protein-packed egg scramble with some spinach and a slice of whole-wheat toast to kickstart my metabolism. The key is finding what keeps you full and happy without blowing your calorie budget early in the day. Lunch is another opportunity to load up on nutrients. I love a good Caesar salad, just like the one I had, because it's refreshing and can be surprisingly filling. To make it even more robust and supportive of my protein goals, I'll often add some grilled chicken breast or chickpeas. Don't be afraid to get creative with your greens and toppings; things like butter lettuce, shredded parmesan, and a flavorful dressing can make a simple salad feel gourmet. And for a healthy, sweet addition, a side of fresh pineapple chunks is always a win! Snacks are crucial for bridging the gap between meals and preventing overeating. This is where protein truly shines! A strawberry banana protein shake is my go-to for a quick, satisfying boost that keeps hunger at bay. I also enjoy a good salted caramel crunch yogurt for a creamy, protein-rich treat. And let's be real, sometimes you just crave something savory and crunchy – a small bag of onion-flavored rings can absolutely fit into your day. It’s all about moderation and making adjustments elsewhere. Hydration is also super important; I find that a tropical energy drink can sometimes help, but I also make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep me feeling full and focused. Dinner is where I really get to enjoy a hearty meal. Dishes like smothered chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans can be incredibly comforting and healthy when prepared mindfully. I focus on lean cuts of boneless skinless chicken breast, use light sour cream, and ensure my portions of gold potatoes and green beans are balanced. Adding ingredients like onion and celery to the sauce can boost flavor without adding many calories. This type of meal shows that you don't have to eat bland food to stay within your 1500-calorie target. Protein is truly your best friend when you're calorie counting. It helps keep you feeling full and satisfied, which is essential when you're trying to reduce your overall intake. Beyond that, it's vital for maintaining and building muscle, which is especially important if you're active. I make sure to include a protein source in every meal and most of my snacks. This strategy has been a game-changer for my energy levels and overall well-being. It's not just about the numbers; it's about nourishing your body with what it needs to thrive. Don't be afraid to experiment with different protein sources and find what you enjoy most!
