In this article, I dive into my professional experiences, comparing two vastly different careers: working in a piercing studio and as a vet. Piercing brings a unique blend of creative freedom and daily artistic expression, but it also poses high-pressure situations, dealing with varied client personalities, and potential income fluctuations. Conversely, the veterinary field rewards with daily doses of serotonin from working with animals, fostering a soul-healing environment, yet it can be emotionally taxing on heavy days dealing with sick pets. Piercing not only allows for self-expression through art but also invites deep connections with clients expressing their identity. The piercer's role is about cultivating a welcoming atmosphere, which is vital in enhancing customer comfort. On the other hand, being a vet often includes long learning curves and physically demanding tasks, but it also offers structured hours and supportive teamwork, albeit occasionally tainted by difficult interactions with co-workers. Ultimately, each job provides valuable lessons. The piercing journey radiates personal connection and creativity, while veterinary work enriches life through animal companionship and support. Reflecting on these experiences has solidified my belief that piercing is my true calling!
