My Poems 📝

I never really shared my poems until this past year, but I shared a post with several of them on here a few months ago and you guys made me feel so encouraged and proud of what I had wrote.

This one isn’t one of my best but this has been a really tough year and the emotion behind this is very strong so I hope you guys like it.

I’ve edited this a few times since I created the reel, maybe once I am officially happy with it I will post the final piece in the comments, until then, give me inspiration and ideas for this or other poems!

... Read morePoetry has always held a special place in my heart as a way to untangle complex feelings, especially when life throws its toughest challenges. It's more than just words on a page; it's a living, breathing canvas for our innermost world. When I sit down to write, I often find that the very act of putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard!) helps me process emotions that might otherwise feel overwhelming or too abstract to grasp. The poem I shared earlier, for instance, delves into a profound sense of longing and memory, sparked by something as simple as a "crisp breeze." Isn't it amazing how a seemingly ordinary sensation can unlock a flood of powerful feelings? For me, that breeze isn't just air; it's a trigger, bringing back the scent of "leaves and moss" and the phantom touch of a "sweet kiss." This is where poetry truly shines: it uses "imaginative words" to paint a picture, to convey not just a story, but the deep emotional landscape of the experience. When I read poetry, or even when I'm writing my own, I often reflect on "how a poem makes you feel." It's not always about a clear narrative; sometimes, it's the rhythm, the imagery, or even just a single, perfectly placed word that evokes a visceral response. In the piece I shared, the feeling of a "whispering breeze" carrying unspoken words, and the wistful wondering if that love is reciprocated, speaks volumes about the ache of memory and unresolved emotion. It's a testament to "emotional expression" that doesn't shy away from vulnerability. For anyone going through a difficult time, or simply seeking a deeper connection to their feelings, exploring poetry can be incredibly therapeutic. You don't have to be a published poet to write; just letting your thoughts flow, allowing yourself to play with metaphors and imagery, can be a powerful release. Think about how the "prick of a sweet kiss" or the "aroma of earth" in my poem creates such a vivid, almost tactile memory. These small details are the building blocks of "emotion in poetry," turning abstract feelings into tangible experiences. And it's not just about writing; reading poetry helps us understand the vast spectrum of human emotion, too. When a poem touches on themes of loss, hope, or even the feeling of a familiar face not being "there, nowhere," it creates a bridge between the writer's experience and our own. It helps us feel less alone in our own emotional journeys. Sometimes, a poem can even help us identify a "motif" in our own lives – whether it's change, growth, or the enduring power of faith or love, even in absence. The act of creation, of sharing such intimate feelings, can be a form of growth in itself, transforming our personal struggles into art that others can connect with. So, whether you're writing or reading, embrace the emotional depth that poetry offers – it's a truly enriching experience.
