Forgetting your iPad passcode can be stressful, but there are several methods to regain access safely. One of the most user-friendly options is using iCloud's Find My iPad feature. If enabled, you can remotely erase your device by logging into iCloud.com, selecting your iPad, and choosing "Erase iPad." This removes the passcode but allows you to restore your apps and data from a backup afterward. It’s important that Find My iPad was enabled before the device got locked. Another effective approach involves recovery mode and iTunes. By connecting your iPad to a computer with the latest version of iTunes, you can force your iPad into recovery mode by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the recovery screen appears. iTunes will then prompt you to restore or update your device. Restoring will erase all data, so having a prior backup is essential. Speaking of backups, creating regular backups is critical. Tools like FoneTool allow selective backup of your iPad data, including apps and their related data. This way, if you ever face a passcode lockout, you can recover important information without major loss. Additionally, if your iPad runs iOS 15 or later, Apple’s new feature called 'Erase Device' on the lock screen after multiple failed attempts lets you erase the device quickly, provided you know your Apple ID credentials. In my own experience, using iCloud to erase the iPad was the quickest way when I forgot the passcode, but relying on good backups made the restoration process hassle-free.
