Trust and acknowledgment of God

Pride is more than confidence. It is trusting ourselves above God, refusing correction, and exalting our own wisdom. Scripture warns that pride comes before destruction because it blinds us to our weaknesses and our need for God. True humility is not thinking less of yourself, but recognizing that every blessing, strength, and victory comes from Him.

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV)

“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

... Read moreFrom my personal reflections and experiences, embracing humility has been a transformative journey. Pride often feels like a shield, making us rely heavily on our own wisdom and strength, but it frequently isolates us from the vital support and guidance that comes from God. I've found that the biblical teaching in Proverbs 16:18, which warns that “pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall,” is incredibly relevant in everyday life situations. It reminds me to stay vigilant and aware of moments when self-confidence tips into overconfidence. Moreover, James 4:6’s message that "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" beautifully illustrates the spiritual principle that humility invites divine assistance. Walking in dependence on God rather than solely on self-reliance opens countless doors to growth and resilience. Humility doesn't mean undervaluing oneself but recognizing that our blessings and victories are gifts from a higher power, not merely personal achievements. In practical terms, welcoming correction has helped me avoid pitfalls caused by pride. When we refuse correction, we shield ourselves from learning and growth, but being open to feedback creates a pathway to improvement. This aligns with the insight from the image's OCR content emphasizing welcoming correction as part of the way of humility. Living with this mindset encourages a daily acknowledgement of God in all things—our successes, challenges, and even our weaknesses. This acknowledgment fosters a walking in dependence rather than in self-reliance, which in my experience keeps me grounded and continually rising, even when faced with setbacks. Humility truly keeps you standing and enables God's grace to uplift your spirit through the toughest moments.
