College pet peeve

When I go to school, it takes me around an hour and a half to get there. When I go to my classes, they are over two hours long. I dont mind when classes end 30 minutes early but over an hour early is insane to me. I drive a total of three hours (there and back) for school and being there for less than an hour makes it feel like the drive is not worth it. I could stay in the library and I do but the point is that why would i have to fill up a prof’s allotted time with library time yk? Also idk if its just me but profs are betting lazy with the work since i can find almost all the answers online and the homework is always on a third party site where students are expected to pay. Its insane

... Read moreCommuting for education can be a daunting task for many college students. Long hours on the road not only consume time but also create stress and frustration. Being dismissed early from lengthy classes, especially after investing considerable travel time, is a common grievance among commuters. This situation raises questions about the value of classroom time versus online resources, as many students find the required materials and answers readily available online. Profs must recognize the evolving learning landscape and adapt to the needs of today’s students. As online platforms gain prevalence, it’s essential to foster a learning environment that emphasizes engagement and critical thinking rather than rote memorization. Students should feel supported in their educational journey, regardless of the challenges they face in commuting or adapting to changing academic dynamics. Additionally, discussing these peeves can bring students together and form a supportive community, addressing common frustrations collaboratively.

My drive is about 30 minutes (20 with the way I drive, traffic permitting) and it peeves me so much when prof cancel class 15 minutes before when I’m already on campus or cancel by putting a sign on the door.
