Gospel for today: Luke 11:14-23
Gospel for today according to Saint Luke
Luke 11:14-23
Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute,
and when the demon had gone out,
the mute man spoke and the crowds were amazed.
Some of them said, "By the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons,
he drives out demons."
Others, to test him, asked him for a sign from heaven.
But he knew their thoughts and said to them,
"Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste
and house will fall against house.
And if Satan is divided against himself,
how will his kingdom stand?
For you say that it is by Beelzebul that I drive out demons.
If I, then, drive out demons by Beelzebul,
by whom do your own people drive them out?
Therefore they will be your judges.
But if it is by the finger of God that I drive out demons,
then the Kingdom of God has come upon you.
When a strong man fully armed guards his palace,
his possessions are safe.
But when one stronger than he attacks and overcomes him,
he takes away the armor on which he relied
and distributes the spoils.
Whoever is not with me is against me,
and whoever does not gather with me scatters."

This GOSPEL FOR TODAY, LUKE 11:14-23, truly offers profound insights and a powerful message for our lives. As I read through this passage again, especially considering it for March 27, 2025, I found myself reflecting deeply on JESUS' POWER OVER EVIL and the presence of GOD'S KINGDOM. It’s a passage that clearly defines spiritual lines and calls for our wholehearted commitment. The narrative begins with Jesus CASTING OUT A DEMON FROM A MUTE MAN, immediately restoring his ability to speak. The crowds were amazed, as anyone would be witnessing such a miraculous transformation. However, not everyone responded with wonder and belief. Some onlookers chose to ACCUSE JESUS OF USING THE POWER OF BEELZEBUB, the prince of demons, to perform these miracles. Others, trying to entrap Him, demanded a sign from heaven. This accusation wasn't just skepticism; it was a direct challenge to His divine authority, suggesting that His work was aligned with evil rather than God. Jesus, knowing their thoughts, countered their accusations with an undeniable logic: “Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and house will fall against house.” He pointed out that if Satan were casting out Satan, his own kingdom would collapse. This profound statement helped me understand that spiritual WARFARE isn't chaotic; there's an order, even within evil. Satan wouldn't undermine his own domain. Therefore, if Jesus was indeed driving out demons, it couldn't be by Satan's power. Instead, Jesus affirmed that if He was driving out demons BY THE FINGER OF GOD, then GOD'S KINGDOM IS PRESENT AMONG them right at that moment. This distinction is crucial. It means that Jesus’ actions weren't just random acts of power; they were concrete signs of God's active presence and authority breaking into the world. It’s a powerful reminder that when we see God working, especially in overcoming spiritual darkness, we are witnessing His kingdom arriving. I find immense comfort and strength in knowing that Jesus is indeed ONE STRONGER THAN SATAN. Jesus further illustrates this by using the analogy of a strong man guarding his palace. His possessions are safe until someone stronger attacks and overcomes him, taking away his armor and distributing the spoils. Jesus presents Himself as that STRONGER one, demonstrating His ultimate authority over evil and Satan. This imagery underscores His victory and our hope. Finally, Jesus delivers a stark warning: “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” This isn't a call for neutrality; it’s a direct challenge to CHOOSE HIM WHOLEHEARTEDLY. There’s no middle ground in following Christ. This verse truly resonates with me, reminding me that my actions and allegiances have significant weight. It makes me reflect on my own life: Am I actively gathering with Him, or am I passively scattering? This passage from LUKE 11:14-23 has profoundly shaped my understanding of Jesus' power, the reality of spiritual battle, and the unwavering presence of God's Kingdom. It encourages me to TRUST in His authority and to consciously make choices that align with His will, ensuring that I don't LET THE ENEMY REGAIN any ground in my life. It's a daily call to commitment and faith.
