How I stay productive working from home 🧠💻

Working from home sounds nice until you realize your bed is two feet away. Between juggling my 9-5, therapy clients in the evenings, and everything in between, I’ve had to find what actually works for me.

Here’s what helps me stay on track without burning out:

1) Set hours. I start around the same time every day and give myself a hard stop. If not, I’ll keep working at 9pm and wonder why I’m exhausted.

2) Keep a small, doable list. I only write down 3-5 things max. Anything more feels overwhelming and I end up procrastinating.

3) Dedicated workspace > couch or bed. Even if it’s a tiny desk in the corner; I leave the lounging for after hours.

4) Hydrate + snack. My water bottle is always nearby and coffee. I also keep snacks around so I’m not constantly raiding the fridge.

5) Breaks aren’t optional. I take short breaks to stretch, step outside, or just breathe for 10 minutes. It helps reset my focus way more than pushing through.

6) Actually log off. When I’m done, I’m done. Close the laptop and silence work emails.

Everyone’s WFH flow looks different, but this routine helps me get things done while still feeling human.

... Read moreWorking from home has become increasingly prevalent, and mastering productivity in this environment is crucial for maintaining work-life balance and preventing burnout. One important aspect is to establish a structured routine, which includes setting consistent start and stop times to signal the beginning and end of your workday. This helps maintain boundaries between personal and professional life. Keeping a concise task list with only a few key priorities can reduce overwhelm and prevent procrastination. It is beneficial to have a dedicated workspace that is separate from areas used for relaxation, such as the bed or couch, to reinforce focus and minimize distractions. Hydration is often overlooked in productivity but is essential for cognitive function. Keeping a water bottle nearby and healthy snacks can sustain energy levels. Alongside this, incorporating short, regular breaks supports mental rejuvenation and prevents fatigue, which enhances overall output. A crucial productivity tip is to fully disconnect at the end of the day by logging off work devices and silencing work notifications. This clear boundary allows for proper rest and prevents the blurring of work-life lines. Moreover, productivity tools such as apps like SimplePractice or settings incorporating keyboard shortcuts (for example, command + control to manage tasks) can streamline workflows and simplify remote work logistics. Adopting these methods helps remote workers work smarter, stay focused, and maintain well-being, ultimately boosting both efficiency and satisfaction while working from home.
