An underrated vegan cafe in Singapore

@lilac.oak is a true gem for vegans and those who are into clean eating. It’s a cosy cafe located along Oxley Rise, among the private apartments between Somerset and Dhoby Ghaut MRT station.

They offer a curated menu of both sweet and savoury bites. We tried their tofu sandwich which looked plain and simple but it’s a well-made flavourful sandwich that is quite satisfying. If you love spicy food, you can try their Gochujang pasta. Another highlight was their dairy-free gelato which is made with real ingredients. We had the mango sorbet and pistachio gelato which were really creamy and dense. I only wish that it was less sweet.

⭐️: 4.3/5 (Clean-tasting food that is free of the nasties.)

... Read moreIf you're exploring vegan options around Dhoby Ghaut or Somerset area, Lilac Oak is definitely worth a visit. The cafe's location on Oxley Rise makes it a peaceful retreat away from the busy city. Beyond the tofu sandwich and Gochujang pasta mentioned earlier, their menu also features various baked goods and seasonal treats that embrace a simple lifestyle and promote healthy eating. For those interested in beverage pairings, Lilac Oak offers refreshing plant-based drinks that complement their savoury and sweet dishes well. I recommend trying their herbal teas or freshly brewed coffee for a complete experience. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, ideal for casual meet-ups or solo visits where you want to enjoy clean, flavorful food. From my visits, I found that the portion sizes are generous and meals leave you feeling nourished without heaviness, perfect for anyone mindful of their diet. The cafe’s commitment to using real, wholesome ingredients is evident, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, happy to share their recommendations. If you’re keen on trying dairy-free gelato, the pistachio flavor impressed me with its rich creaminess, although it leans on the sweeter side. For a lighter option, the mango sorbet is delightfully fresh and tangy, making for a refreshing finish to your meal. This spot is a hidden treasure for those who appreciate quality vegan food in Singapore’s vibrant culinary scene.
