Cancer Hunting Chips! Tech startups advanced, developed "brain implantation chips," detected and treated cancer, tested in the first three people. 🧠⚡
You know, Deep people think that ferocious brain cancer (like Glioblastoma) grows very fast and never waits for the next round of MRI scans. Most recently, a US medical technology startup named Coherence Neuro developed SOMA, a coin-sized brain implant designed to deal with this particular problem.
🔍 How does it work?
His idea was to see brain cancer as an "electrical problem in the brain," similar to epilepsy. Instead of waiting for a brain scan to see the size of a lump every few months, the SOMA chip is implanted to "wiretap" the abnormal electrocardiogram of cancer cells 24 hours a day in real time, and in the future it is designed to release weak electricity to interrupt the growth of necrosis at the point!
⚠️ Where's the status now?
There has just been a 30-minute preliminary test of this chip in three patients at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia during the tumor surgery procedure. This phase is only a "primary safety" test, not a permanent treatment, but the team aims to start permanent implantation testing in real patients by 2027.
Although it is still in its infancy and needs a lot of safety testing, if this technology is successful, it will change the history of brain cancer treatment, from doctors and patients having to win every scan to minute-by-minute monitoring and cancer suppression, which is another amazing breakthrough in medical engineering.
