U.S. rules steel "ban on starting building" Trump-class nuclear-powered battleship

The United States rules out steel "Do not start building" Trump-class nuclear-powered battleships until the military proves that laser weapons and railguns are actually combat-ready. No eyes!

Stick to the progress of the U.S. Navy's "Trump-Class" nuclear-powered battleship project. It recently caused a major military tremor when the U.S. House Military Committee (HASC) put a golden paragraph in the Defense Budget Bill (NDAA) of fiscal year 2027: "Do not sign a contract to start building the first ship until it confirms that the main weapons system is truly technologically ready." 🛑⚓

This is mainly because the "super claw" planned on this 35,000-ton giant warship is a futuristic technology that is still under test and facing a very high challenge:

• 💥 Directed-Energy Weapon: The military aims to install a 300 kW laser, five times stronger than the HELIOS (60 kW) system currently used on the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. Stabilizing power and heat control on board is a huge problem.

• 🚀 Hypersonic Missile (IRCPS): A supersonic weapon that must be fired from an ultra-large vertical launch tube (VLS), scheduled for test firing from a real ship next year.

• 🧲 Railgun: Although the project was folded in 2021, a new ambush has recently been brought back to the White Sands test range in 2025, giving a long chance to be ready for installation.

The first battleship (USS Defiant) is scheduled to be ordered in 2028 at a huge value of $17,000 million (about $600 billion), which is more expensive than the Ford-class aircraft carrier! The council and the military do not want to repeat the original shipbuilding, and both the design and the weapon systems are still so static that the budget has escalated and delayed like previous ship projects. 📊
