U.S. Navy and Defense Innovation Unit open to unmanned aircraft system proposal

The U.S. Navy and Defense Innovation Unit are open to the Massed Modular Aircraft or MMA concept of unmanned aircraft systems, requiring launch and reuse without relying on runways, including installation on ships like destroyers, frigates, and coastal warships.

🔹 fly at least 1,400 miles, or 2,250 kilometers.

🔹 carry 1,000 pounds of weapons, usually used on fighters.

If the concept were practical, medium surface ships would have greatly increased aerial operational range on both reconnaissance, electronic warfare and long-range attack, without sending pilots into vulnerable areas. 🛩️
