Wellbutrin is a norepinephrine/dopamine-reuptake inhibitor (NDRI) used most commonly for the management of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), and as an aid for smoking cessation. It’s also very helpful in relieving some of the symptoms of ADHD.
Why I love it
I’ve noticed a huge difference in my mood and I have much more motivation on a day to day basis. My dishes stay clean, my laundry stays done, I get to work on time. Overall I’m able to prioritize things better.
It’s helped me to stop vaping! after a week of taking it, hitting my vape started to make me gag. Even if think about vaping, I’m able to quickly dismiss the thought because it’s not something I want to do, it’s just something I’m used to doing.
I’m able to communicate the way that I feel without getting upset. I’ve always been a very anxious person and sometimes communicating my feelings would make me emotional. But while taking this medication I’m able to be more rational.
I have tried Zoloft and Prozac in the past, but both of them actually made my mental health worse after a couple of months of taking them. Don’t get discouraged if you haven’t found the right medication for yourself yet! Always be honest with your doctor and be patient with the process ❤️
... Read moreFinding the right medication for your mental health journey can feel like navigating a maze, and trust me, I've been there. Before Wellbutrin, my days often felt shrouded in a grey fog. It wasn't just sadness; it was a profound lack of energy, motivation, and an overwhelming feeling that even the simplest tasks were monumental. I'd stare at my messy apartment, dishes piled high, laundry overflowing, and just couldn't bring myself to start. It felt like my brain was working against me, making it hard to even communicate how truly awful I felt without breaking down. This struggle is what many of us grappling with depression experience, and seeing that "face before and after depression" transformation is often what we desperately hope for.
When my doctor suggested Wellbutrin, or Bupropion XL 150mg as it's often labeled on the bottle, I was cautiously optimistic. I'd tried medications like Zoloft and Prozac before, and unfortunately, they didn't quite click for me, even worsening things after a few months. That's why I was so keen to find something that felt different. What I noticed with Wellbutrin was a subtle but significant shift. It wasn't an immediate 'happy pill,' but rather a gradual lifting of that heavy fog. The first few weeks had their moments – a little more jittery, maybe some restless sleep – but I made sure to communicate every single change with my doctor. That open conversation is absolutely key, and something I learned the hard way with previous medications.
One of the most unexpected, yet incredibly welcome, benefits for me was its impact on my vaping habit. I used to reach for my vape without even thinking, a mindless habit ingrained in my daily routine. But after a week or so on Wellbutrin, something shifted. That automatic craving lessened, and surprisingly, the taste and feeling of vaping became unpleasant, almost gag-inducing. It wasn't a Herculean effort to quit; it felt like the desire simply faded. This really highlighted for me how much our brains can be influenced chemically, and how a medication like Bupropion can genuinely help break ingrained patterns that feel impossible to overcome otherwise. If you're looking at that prescription bottle and wondering if it can help you too, know that many have found relief for various struggles, from ADHD symptoms to breaking habits.
Beyond the big changes, Wellbutrin has helped me reclaim small, everyday victories. My apartment is tidier, I'm consistently on time for work, and I can actually articulate my feelings without getting overwhelmed. It’s not just about managing depression; it’s about rebuilding a functional, fulfilling life. When I look at my prescription bottle, the one with 'BUPROPION XL 150MG' clearly marked, I'm reminded of the journey and how important it is to find what works for *you*. Don't be afraid to keep advocating for your mental health, openly discuss your experiences with your doctor, and remember that personal stories, even those shared through a "wellbutrin meme" or forum, often carry a kernel of truth about the shared human experience with these vital medications. Your mental health journey is unique, and finding your right path, just like I found mine with Wellbutrin, is absolutely worth it.
welbutrin put me into a terrible spiral depression. 😅 By day two, I was ready to 😵 myself. I had to find an alternative
