I drew revali

As a massive fan of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, I couldn't resist drawing Revali, the Rito Champion! He's such a striking character with his unique design and confident, sometimes arrogant, personality. I spent so much time exploring Hyrule, and Revali's stories and challenges always stuck with me, making him a perfect subject for my artwork. For this project, I decided to challenge myself by creating two versions of Revali: one traditional drawing and one digital artwork. It was fascinating to see how the different mediums impacted the final look and feel of the piece. I wanted to capture his iconic presence, from his piercing gaze to his elegant posture. Starting with the traditional drawing, I opted for a more classic approach. I sketched Revali as the majestic blue bird-like character, carefully rendering his white feathers that are such a defining feature. The challenge here was getting the texture right and ensuring his armor looked authentic, not just flat. I really focused on the glowing green orb he often holds, trying to give it that mystical, ethereal quality. For the background, I experimented with light green swirling lines to evoke the wind and his aerial prowess, giving the piece a dynamic feel. Transitioning to the digital artwork was a different beast altogether, but incredibly rewarding. Using my tablet and software, I could really dive into the details. Again, I focused on making him a commanding blue bird-like character with intricately layered white feathers. The digital medium allowed for more vibrant colors and smoother blending, which was great for his armor and the glowing green orb. I even added a subtle bird silhouette within the orb to give it an extra touch. For the digital background, I chose a darker green with more pronounced swirling patterns, aiming for a dramatic effect that highlighted Revali's intensity. Break them down into smaller shapes and focus on layering to give them depth. The glowing green orb also benefits from practice to get the luminosity just right.
