Healing after Trauma

#safespace #lemon8challenge

I got pregnant when I was 16 had my first son and if someone would’ve told me that my life would turn out the way it did, I would’ve definitely tried to change my path.

My son was 9 lbs. 1 oz. 22 1/2 inches long I named him Norman, and when he was six weeks old, his father shook him. He shook him so violently, that he was bleeding inside and outside of his brain, behind both eyes. He broke his arm, broke his collarbone and fractured his skull , my son then became a vegetable who no longer could see and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy afterwards,

My future then became nothing but emergency rooms, long hospital stays, and nights with lots of horrible horrible days!!!

My son was in and out of the hospital, his whole entire life when he was 17 he got a tracheotomy which he caught Mersa and staff infection from the operating room and from there, it was a downward spiral. He was 19 when passed away March 15, 2012

That experience truly gave me the worst PTSD and trauma. It broke my trust for every person in my future. I was very angry. I blamed God. I hated his father and it wasn’t till after my son passed away, and I went into rehab for addiction and got counseling that I began to forgive myself For loving someone so horrible, a monster in my eyes and I blamed myself for a long time because if I didn’t get in that relationship and have a child with him, my son would’ve been normal. I blamed God ,I blamed everybody. I was just walking around an angry, angry person.

Fast forward 2024. I’ve been clean for almost five years and I’ve done a lot of work on myself to forgive myself, and I have an amazing relationship with God.

I also know that when a person shows you who they are the first time you believe them !!!

I’m sorry for the babbling, but I didn’t know how to start my story and my healing !!? ❤️‍🩹

Rest in peace, Norman, mommy misses you and loves you!!!!

... Read moreTrauma can have profound effects not only on the individual but also on their loved ones. Healing from trauma is a deeply personal journey, often requiring significant time and effort. It's essential to acknowledge the emotional impact of such experiences, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and feelings of anger, disbelief, and blame. Many individuals may feel isolated after traumatic events but seek community support or professional counseling to aid in their healing process. Understanding the stages of grief is critical; it allows individuals to process their emotions, accept their experiences, and eventually move towards forgiveness and self-love. Various therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and trauma-focused therapy, can be incredibly beneficial in this journey. Moreover, engaging in supportive communities, sharing stories, and connecting with others who have gone through similar experiences can offer solace and encouragement. Learning to establish boundaries and recognizing unhealthy relationships are crucial steps towards healing, reinforcing the importance of believing in people's true character from the beginning. In times of strife, resilience can be cultivated through self-care practices, mindfulness, and spiritual beliefs that provide strength and guidance. The road to recovery may be long and filled with obstacles, but every step taken towards healing brings an opportunity for personal growth and transformation. Remember that it’s okay to seek help and rely on others; it’s part of the healing process.
