A Blue Micromoon is a rare celestial event that combines two lunar phenomena: a Blue Moon and a Micromoon. It appears roughly 6% smaller and 10% dimmer than an average full moon.

Blue Moon: The traditional definition of a Blue Moon is the occurrence of two full moons within a single calendar month. Because lunar cycles are slightly shorter than calendar months, this alignment happens about every two to three years. The name simply denotes the rarity of the event, as the moon does not physically turn blue.

Micromoon: The Moon's orbit around Earth isn't a perfect circle, but rather an oval or ellipse. Because of this, its distance from Earth varies.A micromoon occurs when the Moon reaches its farthest point from Earth during its orbit - a point known as apogee. Because of the extra distance, it looks smaller in the sky. This is the exact opposite of a "supermoon."

Why is it specialized?

While regular Blue Moons or Micromoons happen every few years, having both happen simultaneously is incredibly uncommon, with some cycles spanning nearly two to three decades between occurrences.
