As a mom, it's easy to fall into the trap of idolizing your children and neglecting your own needs and spiritual connection. I've personally come to realize how crucial it is to put God first in my life before trying to care for others. When you make God your priority, it helps reset your perspective and strengthens your inner peace. Self-love is not selfish—it's essential. You can't pour love and energy into your family if you're emotionally depleted. Setting aside time each day to nurture your relationship with yourself and with God can be transformative. I find that prayer doesn't always mean formal, structured moments on your knees; rather, it's an ongoing, honest conversation with God. Sharing your true feelings—joys, fears, frustrations or anger—builds a closer bond and helps you feel supported. Idolizing children can unintentionally place overwhelming pressure on both mother and child. By consciously recognizing this tendency, we can release that unrealistic expectation. Instead, honoring your role with humility and faith allows space for everyone’s growth. In my journey, embracing this mindset has brought more balance to my motherhood experience. It reminded me that when God is truly first, followed by genuine self-love, I have the emotional and spiritual reserves needed to pour out love into my family effectively. This approach encourages a healthier, more fulfilling relationship with our children and with God.
