Transform Stress Drawing into a Creative Outlet: When I feel overwhelmed, I sometimes engage in what I call 'mindless drawing.' This isn't for a grade or a project; it's simply for the act of creation. It could be doodling, experimenting with different marks, or even creating an abstract pencil drawing with a woven or layered appearance just like your free-time piece. This helps release tension and keeps your artistic muscles engaged without the pressure. Seek Constructive Feedback: Don't be afraid to ask your instructor for specific feedback. Instead of "Is this good?", try, "What aspects of my still life could I improve regarding perspective?" Most instructors are thrilled to offer guidance when you show initiative. Build Confidence Gradually: Keep a dedicated sketchbook for experiments, mistakes, and ideas. Celebrate small victories – getting a challenging line or shadow just right is a win!
