Be good...And then let go.
Ever?..
We are dedicated to doing good to someone, helping him on a difficult day, being by his side on a day when no one is willing to waste time, losing a lot of opportunities just because of hope...One day he will appreciate us.
But over time, what gets back is not gratitude, not love, not sincerity.
Sometimes...Instead of indifference, disappointment or even being forgotten.
And then we started asking ourselves,
"Doing well for what?"
In fact...This question is not wrong.
But perhaps we are unconsciously taking "rewards" as a condition of good deeds.
We think we give with heart, but deep down, we're waiting for some kind of recompense.
Wait for him to love. Wait for him to appreciate. Wait for him to treat us like we treat him.
And when everything is not hopeful, the heart is troubled.
The Buddha taught that
As the sower works, so does the good man; and the evil man works evil.
Action is ours, but the result of action is not something we control.
We can choose to sow good seeds, but we cannot choose when all seeds will flourish.
Some seeds grow fast, some grow slow, some may not germinate at all.
But that doesn't mean that sowing is meaningless.
Doing good...Same thing.
Every good is shaping the heart of the giver rather than changing the recipient.
Every time we forgive, our hearts widen.
Every time we have compassion, our hearts soften.
Every time we help others without hope, we are reducing selfishness gradually.
That's the biggest gain.
Some people misunderstand that.
"If you don't hope for anything, you'll be taken advantage of."
In fact, not hoping for a return is not letting anyone take advantage.
But not to tie our hearts to other people's actions.
We can still help, but not stick.
Can still love but not possess
Still merciful, but not expected.
Because without expectations, there is no disappointment to bear.
Life will magically lighten.
Some people may never thank us.
Some people may forget everything we did.
Someone might repay us with indifference.
But those things can't erase the good we did.
Because goodness is never lost.
It may not come back from the same person, but it will nurture our minds to be calmer, gentle and stronger.
People who do good to hope for praise when they are not praised are discouraged.
But those who do good because they see that good is the right thing to do
Whether anyone sees it or not, he still smiles.
This is the freedom of the heart.
When we give up bargaining with the world,
Stop thinking, "I give. You have to give it back."
Stop thinking, "I'm good. You have to be good to me."
The heart will gradually be free.
And then we'll discover
Giving is a gift that the giver always receives before the recipient.
A smile that comes to mind, a euphoria that doesn't have to be bought, a peace that no one can take away.
All this happens from the moment we do good.
Without waiting for a return.
Finally...
Don't stop being nice. Just because you've met someone who doesn't appreciate it.
Flowers...Didn't stop smelling, just because someone walked by without ever inhaling.
The sun...Didn't stop shining. Just because someone closed the curtain.
And goodness...It shouldn't stop because the world doesn't repay us as it hopes.
Be good...Because the heart chooses to do
Once done, then paste.
No, hold on. No, wait. No bargaining.
Because true happiness is not the reward of the world.
But to have a light, calm and independent heart from all expectations.
