Paintings from my dreams Part 1
A lot of my art comes from my dreams and usually from a really vulnerable place for me. This piece is untitled like most but, when I woke up I felt everything in this image. #fyp #painting #paintings #nyc #art
My daily art creation
Ever wonder where artists find their deepest inspiration? For me, it's often straight from the whimsical, sometimes vulnerable, world of my dreams. My 'Paintings from my dreams' series truly captures these fleeting moments, transforming them into tangible art. This first piece, like many, emerged from an intense feeling I carried after waking, a raw emotion translated onto canvas. If you've ever thought about tapping into your subconscious for creative ideas, it's easier than you think! I keep a small notebook and pencil by my bed. The moment I wake up, even if it's just a scribble, I jot down any colors, shapes, dominant feelings, or even abstract sensations from my dream. This dream journaling is crucial for finding 'easy things to paint' that resonate deeply. It's not about recreating the dream perfectly, but about capturing its essence. For example, if a dream felt light and airy, maybe a palette of soft blues and yellows – akin to a 'lemon bluery theme' – could evoke that feeling. Don't be afraid to experiment with color to convey mood. A vibrant yellow might represent joy or a sudden realization, while deep blues could signify mystery or calm. The beauty of 'dreams and fantasy art' is that there are no strict rules. Your interpretation is what makes it unique and, frankly, 'cool paintings'! When I approach a new piece, I don't start with a definitive image. Instead, I let the feeling guide my hand. Sometimes it's a blur of color, other times it's a specific shape that appeared. Acrylics are my go-to because they dry quickly, allowing me to layer and build up texture as the dream memory evolves. But watercolors can create stunning ethereal effects, perfect for those hazy, soft dreamscapes. Don't stress about technical perfection; focus on the flow. Many of my 'easy cool paintings' began as abstract expressions before finding their form. The key to 'painting things' inspired by dreams is to embrace vulnerability. These visions often come from a very personal place, and sharing them through art can be incredibly cathartic. It’s a way to process emotions and connect with your inner world. This 'part 1' of my series is just the beginning of exploring these depths. Remember, your unique perspective is your superpower as an artist. Even if you've never painted before, try translating a feeling from a dream onto paper. You might be surprised by the beautiful 'paintings of dreams' you create. It's about expressing yourself, not achieving museum quality. So, next time you have a vivid dream, grab a brush, pencil, or even just your fingers, and see what magic unfolds on your canvas!
