10 Life Lessons I’ve Learnt in My 20’s

For my 30th birthday, I felt like this was an appropriate post to make.

For some reason, I’ve always been quite sentimental about turning 30. Even though people always say age is just a number, it somehow feels like I should have accomplished certain things in life by this point. But instead of focusing on achievements, I wanted to reflect on some lessons I learnt throughout my 20s that might be helpful to someone else.

I’m sure there will be many more to come, but I hope something here resonates with you in some way.

... Read moreReflecting on my own 20s, I realize how important it is to start financial planning and investing as early as possible. Many people overlook this, thinking it's something they can delay, but even small amounts can grow significantly thanks to compound interest. Insurance is another aspect I wish I had taken seriously sooner. Getting insured while young can save a lot of trouble and expense later on. Friendships in your 20s tend to ebb and flow, and learning to accept that some people will only be in your life for certain seasons brings peace. I've found that focusing on quality over quantity in friendships nurtures deeper connections. It’s also crucial to learn to stand up for yourself. Being kind doesn’t mean being a pushover—setting boundaries protects your mental and emotional wellbeing and earns respect. Failure played a huge role in my growth. I used to tie my self-worth to achievements, but experiencing setbacks taught me resilience and adaptability. Stagnation feels safe, but embracing discomfort through new challenges and even career pivots helped me discover passions I hadn’t explored before. Everyone’s timeline is different; comparing yourself to others only hinders your progress. In workplaces, I’ve learned that authority doesn’t always equal wisdom or the best perspective. Sometimes, great ideas come from unexpected places, and knowing when to move on to environments that value your strengths is empowering. Ultimately, appreciating your unique journey and focusing on your own growth brings lasting peace and fulfillment.

Lessons learnt from Half Marathon

Things I learnt as a new FA in 2026✨
1. Warm market is great to have, but don’t count on it too much. While some extended families may be receptive and supportive about you entering the industry, mine wasn’t and I felt that I was more shunned and avoided as they were afraid that I would ‘target’ them as my next customer. 2. Do n

One of the biggest lessons I learnt along the way —
especially from the direct sales industry — is that not every season is meant for results. Some seasons are meant for growth. After learning this from the industry, I started linking it back and applying it to other areas of my life and work. There were periods where things were slow — fewer
