Skin burning and tingling :(

As someone who has dry skin, I was hoping & so excited to try out the viral sunscreens, unfortunately they gave me irritation!!

They gave me the tingling and burning feeling on my cheeks and around my nose when I applied it on my face. I tried each of them out for more than a week to see if it gets better but unfortunately it's a no. Especially Skin1004 Hyalu-cica Water-fit Sunscreen.

BoJ Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics gave my skin less burning and itchy feeling after few days. There is one thing that I need to mention: I applied VT Reedle Shot 100 in the evening and used the beauty of Joseon sunscreen in the morning. I started experiencing stings and burning sensation, and I wondered if it was caused by the Reedle Shot. Sadly, even after stopped using Reedle Shot for few days, my skin still stings on both cheeks when I applied BoJ sunscreen.

However they worked out really well on my friends skin. They gave their skin moisture and leave glowy finish for several hours after applying these two sunscreens. So, I'd say it really depends on your skin reactions to the product. Maybe my skin is more sensitive or maybe because of the weather as well?

I'm still figuring out which ingredients broke me out. I'm switching back to Anessa Sunscreen and La Roche-Porsey for now, but I still really wanna try out Korean Sunscreen. If you have any suggestions for me, please drop it down below so that I can try it out 😍. Thank you for reading~

... Read moreOh no, I totally get how frustrating it is when popular products, especially viral K-Beauty sunscreens, don't work out for your skin! It sounds like you had a really uncomfortable experience with that burning sensation skincare can sometimes cause, and that skin tingling after moisturizer feeling is definitely a red flag. It's tough when everyone raves about something, but your skin has a different opinion. When we talk about sunscreen burning skin or experiencing sunscreen irritation, there are a few common culprits, especially for those with dry or sensitive skin types like yours. One of the main reasons could be certain chemical UV filters. While effective, ingredients like oxybenzone, avobenzone, octinoxate, and octisalate can sometimes cause irritation for very reactive skin. Mineral sunscreens, which use zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, are often recommended as they sit on top of the skin rather than being absorbed, making them generally less irritating. Another factor could be other active ingredients or sensitizers in the formulation. Many viral sunscreens boast additional skincare benefits, like niacinamide, vitamin C, or various plant extracts. While these are great for some, they can be too much for sensitive skin, leading to a burning sensation or irritated skin burning sensation. Fragrance, essential oils, and even alcohol (though less common in K-beauty sunscreens these days) are also known irritants. You mentioned using VT Reedle Shot 100 – combining new actives or strong ingredients can sometimes make your skin more vulnerable to irritation from subsequent products, even if the sunscreen itself wasn't the primary trigger. So, what can you do if you experience skin tingling after skincare, especially from sunscreen? First, always patch test new products, especially on a small, less visible area of your face or neck, to see how your skin reacts. This is crucial for preventing a full-face flare-up. Second, simplify your routine. When your skin is irritated, sometimes less is more. Focus on gentle cleansers, a basic moisturizer, and a mineral-based sunscreen until your skin calms down. Look for sunscreens specifically marketed as 'fragrance-free,' 'alcohol-free,' 'hypoallergenic,' or 'for sensitive skin.' Many sunscreens, as the images show, often highlight desirable qualities like being lightweight, non-greasy, and moisturizing, or having a convenient pump dispenser. While these textures feel great, it's always the ingredient list that truly matters for sensitive skin. Even a product boasting fast absorption and oil control can contain an ingredient that triggers your skin. It sounds like you're already doing great by switching back to trusted brands like Anessa and La Roche-Posay! For Korean sunscreens specifically, you might want to explore brands like Round Lab (their Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream is often praised for sensitive skin) or Isntree (Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel). Purito's Daily Go-To Sunscreen is another popular choice for those prone to sunscreen irritation as it's formulated without common irritants. It's a journey to find what works best, and your skin is unique! Keep listening to it, and don't be afraid to ditch a product, no matter how viral it is, if it causes discomfort. Thanks for sharing your experience – it's super helpful for others going through the same thing!
