For square faces, I find that applying contour directly into the hollows of the cheeks, starting from the ear and going towards the corner of the mouth (but stopping about an inch or two away), really works wonders. Finding the perfect MATCHI for your contour shade is absolutely crucial. You want something that's about two to three shades darker than your natural skin tone and has cool, ashy undertones. Avoid anything too warm or orange, as that can look muddy. I personally love cream contours because they blend seamlessly and give a more natural, skin-like finish, but powder contours are fantastic for setting or if you prefer a more defined look. Don't forget to use a good brush or a damp beauty sponge for blending – harsh lines are our enemy! Beyond contouring, a little highlighting can also do wonders. I like to apply a subtle highlighter to the high points of my cheekbones (just above where I contoured), down the bridge of my nose, and on my cupid's bow.
